Search

In these inane labyrinthine games
I lost my dear soul somewhere
A brooding frame only remains
Weary of competing forever

Very unlike my beaming face
My soul looks gloomy and shaded
Got strayed in this golden maze
It’s shamed, bruised and stark naked

To attain that starry rainbow
I dissolved myself in the toil
Virtues died; morals departed long ago
Though, I did achieve the tangible pile

Now, a hollow body wails and mourns
I don’t see my soul, even light or morning dew
Only more bodies on more pile-thrones
Should I search alone or have these awakened too?

  1. Quite powerful. Dissolving into the toil helps our thoughts. A beautiful poem and the last line makes me wonder the same question.

  4. The atrophy of the soul in the chase for material and mundane things with all the compromises has been brought out well in the poem. What remains despite the acquisitions is just the shell bereft of soul in its pristine form

  12. Hi KP

Yes, very true. Your comment makes me recall two lines of a song, very befitting here..

'ye jism hai to kya, is rooh ka libas hai'
(what is this body, just a garment of this soul)

    Thanks!

  20. You express your feelings very well, A.S. I too feel like you...we are losing ourselves in this fast melee.

The last few lines say everything. But life has to go on.

    Take care.
