I LOVE MY SOLITUDE :)

I am writing this based on the personal experiences I had, not once but many times. Not just with me, I have seen this happening with other people as well, irrespective of genders.
This has to do with a psychic conditioning of people: that if a person is sitting alone, he/she is sad for sure! Many a time when I would sit and enjoy the natural beauty in solitude and lost in my dreams, some ‘well-wishers’ would come and bug me for being alone, about what was ‘bothering’ me and would go on giving sympathy and advice absolutely uncalled for, like a radio without controls. It becomes difficult for me to ask them to leave and let me enjoy my time alone. Often, such people think they are doing me a huge favor by sharing my ‘depression’ and are worthy of special respect. It really becomes difficult for me to convince them that I am actually enjoying!

More I stress on this fact, more ‘sentimental’ they become and more sympathy they give. I’m grateful to them for showing such concern, but anyway, why can’t they just leave me alone when I want and let me enjoy the natural scenery or ponder over other important things! I am sure you all too must have faced such a situation at sometime or the other.

Why a person sitting alone is perceived by default to be depressed or sad. Why do we love to poke our noses in the private time of other people???

  3. I guess everyone needs a little solitude, but only when it crosses a certain threshold that people start intruding. I guess in India children and young people are not encouraged to stay alone for fear of them being *no idea* may be it shows that you are in love or just letting your mind wander into unsafe regions. Elders dont want it, and the younger generation just copies them and act patronising.

  4. Hmm....have you wondered if its a universal phenomenon or if its only Indian? We people are socially knit; and when someone is alone, our elders mistake it for depression; fallen in love and day-dreaming and all other nonsense.

I have an idea. Next time you want to spend time alone, have a message board which shrieks "I am happy happy to be alone. Trespassers will be shot tiwce" :-P

ya! but most people keep bugging even if they know there is no specific reason to be alone. we love to poke our noses in other's pvt life and time.

ya! everyone needs his/her own space.its good that we care for each other and elders don't advice us o stay alone but my point is why being alone is such a a big taboo for us? people bug a person sitting alone unnecessarily to get some hot scoop and just for the sake of bugging him.

my point is different. I am saying a person sitting alone is assumed to be sad and depressed in spite of his denials and thanks for the advice and be careful that u don't trespass in my territory ;)

  11. Few minutes of solitude is rejuvenating ...works for me.One can be sad and lonely even in the crowd .Ignorance to understand the joy of solitude is the reason behind this nosiness,i guess!

  12. YEah I think i got your point, Generally hear people say "KI hoya" Kya hua , Theek hai, Kuch hua kya.. :)

But i guess they are just concerend about us being friends, they want to help us..

and yes i totally agree that we do need OUR time , personal time and it bugs when they keep asking ...

    Excellent Thought.

  20. You have to express more your opinion to attract more readers, because just a video or plain text without any personal approach is not that valuable. But it is just form my point of view
