Bloom!

I love flowers for they make me feel so positive and hopeful about life! However, one uncivic thing that irritates me no bounds is our habit of plucking them. Today morning only I saw an elderly lady filling her entire 'puja thali' with various flowers. I felt like  telling her to stop but that would have resulted in a good quarrel and it would have been precocious on my part as well.

Nature has produced them for a purpose, useless plucking must be discouraged right from an early age. This is what I feel and I am proud to say that I pluck flowers  very rarely, once in a blue moon that too when it becomes inevitable for the purpose.

  5. The drawings are very good..When I go for early morning walks,I see many men and women carrying a stick with a curved knife at the end only to pluck the flowers wherever seen for doing puja with stolen things. They have no qualms in doing it

I too love flowers and like you I just love to admire them, take photos for a keep sake and leave them where they bloom. It makes no sense to cut them only to have them wither and die faster than if it were left in its natural environment. Ah but human beings can be wasteful creatures, we like to possess things of beauty to cage it, mistreat it and render it ugly and forever changed. its like the Christmas tree they cut down for a few days and then toss out like garbage when in its natural habitat it would have lived for years.

    peace.

  13. I don't pluck flowers. Period. I even hate it when somebody gives me flowers. Flowers are supposed to be on trees and shrubs, not on my living room or bedroom. And I seriously don't even like the idea of offering flowers to God. What will they do with it?

  16. Thats a lovely drawing. Like the pleasing colours.
Yes plucking flowers for the puja is the common sight in the morning. And its usually "stealing" from other people's courtyard.

  17. Hi Haddock

    Thanks a lot!

ya 'stealing' would fit better..and pple do it so regularly and casually that too for a sacred thing like puja!

  18. Yes you are right.
Who was it who said,"flowers die when they are picked off the plant or the tree. If you love them watch them, admire their beauty".
