a famous Indian author. Her debut novel‘The God of Small Things’ won her the much coveted ‘Man Booker Prize’ for Fictionin 1997. This novel then went on to become the
biggest-selling book by a non-expatriate Indian author.She was born inShillong,Meghalaya to aBengaliHindufatherand

is the cousin of media personality Prannoy Roy of NDTV.
